July 4, 2026

These two hummingbirds fight over the feeder, along with a third one which shows up occasionally. They don't like to share.

July 3, 2026

There were a lot of big, impressive clouds today. My kids took some time lapse videos of them. We eventually got some needed rain in the evening.

Monday, June 29, 2026

June 29, 2026

We saw a turtle laying eggs at the edge of my field peas. Maybe I'll cover it over with the peas to hide it tomorrow.

June 28, 2026

I spent most of the day weeding and hoeing the gardens. We got most of it done, but the rest of the weeks is supposed to be hot so what's left will have to wait.

June 27, 2026

Some of the potatoes are starting to have flowers.

June 26, 2026

At the moment, our apple trees have some nice looking apples coming on.

June 25, 2026

We're getting little cucumbers.

Wednesday, June 24, 2026

June 24, 2026

It looks like they got the footers poured today for the new house (or whatever it is).

June 23, 2026

June 20, 2026

I sewed myself a phone pocket since women's jeans have tiny pockets. I used old jeans and an old shirt. I forgot to add the clips so used some plastic snaps I had. I thought this would just be the first version but it's working out well so far. I can fit my phone and either my sunglasses or gloves inside the main pocket. Then go work in the yard with my phone.

June 15, 2026

We saw my daughter flying today.

Sunday, June 14, 2026

June 14, 2026

We had a baby deer under our crabapple this morning. Later it went into the thick grass under the tree where it was rather difficult to see.

June 13, 2026

We planted Indian corn, beans, and squash in most of this garden. The last 20 feet or so I planted with flower seeds today.

June 11, 2026

There was some sundogs today and we could see a hint of the circle connecting them.

June 10, 2026

There was a big lightning storm to the south and I got a few photos. This one has lightning and a lightning bug (the yellow line above the lightning bolt).

June 9, 2026

More watering. We scrounged up enough garden hoses to reach this garden.

June 8, 2026

It looks like something is being built across the street. We're guessing a building, maybe a house. Today a bulldozer scraped the topsoil into big piles.

June 7, 2026

It didn't rain like they said it would so we have to water.

Saturday, June 6, 2026

June 6, 2026

This bunny lets us get rather close. I got about 10 feet from it before it nonchalantly hopped a little bit away.

June 5, 2026

We got more planting done.

Sunday, May 31, 2026

May 31, 2026

I've seen people use these cattle fence panels as a trellis so we're going to try it for our cucumbers this year. We weren't sure how we were going to get a 16' panel home, but turns out it just folds around inside the bed of the truck.

May 30, 2026

We mowed the field pea cover crop. We left a small patch just so we can see what it does.

May 29, 2026

Got the garden disced a bit more today.

Sunday, May 17, 2026

May 17, 2026

We're moving the potato patch back where it was a few years ago- crop rotation! I've been wanting to plow it since March. It's finally drying up a little this week. Hopefully the grass and weeds die off quickly.

May 16, 2026

When I make cheese crackers, my favorite cheese is the one on the left in the black package, "vintage". It's a sharp, dry cheddar.
