June 14, 2026

We had a baby deer under our crabapple this morning. Later it went into the thick grass under the tree where it was rather difficult to see.

June 13, 2026

We planted Indian corn, beans, and squash in most of this garden. The last 20 feet or so I planted with flower seeds today.

June 11, 2026

There was some sundogs today and we could see a hint of the circle connecting them.

June 10, 2026

There was a big lightning storm to the south and I got a few photos. This one has lightning and a lightning bug (the yellow line above the lightning bolt).

June 9, 2026

More watering. We scrounged up enough garden hoses to reach this garden.

June 8, 2026

It looks like something is being built across the street. We're guessing a building, maybe a house. Today a bulldozer scraped the topsoil into big piles.

June 7, 2026

It didn't rain like they said it would so we have to water.

June 6, 2026

This bunny lets us get rather close. I got about 10 feet from it before it nonchalantly hopped a little bit away.

June 5, 2026

We got more planting done.

The potatoes are starting to show.

May 31, 2026

I've seen people use these cattle fence panels as a trellis so we're going to try it for our cucumbers this year. We weren't sure how we were going to get a 16' panel home, but turns out it just folds around inside the bed of the truck.

May 30, 2026

We mowed the field pea cover crop. We left a small patch just so we can see what it does.

May 29, 2026

Got the garden disced a bit more today.

These hanging baskets at the local garden center are very pretty.

One of my seedlings with marigolds and basil.

May 21, 2026

We got some plants started in one garden.

May 19, 2026

We got the potatoes planted just before more rain come.

May 17, 2026

We're moving the potato patch back where it was a few years ago- crop rotation! I've been wanting to plow it since March. It's finally drying up a little this week. Hopefully the grass and weeds die off quickly.

May 16, 2026

When I make cheese crackers, my favorite cheese is the one on the left in the black package, "vintage". It's a sharp, dry cheddar.

May 15, 2026

It's barely dry enough, but we started plowing gardens.

May 14, 2026

I'm seeing strawberries coming on.

May 10, 2025

It keeps raining so some parts of the yard aren't getting mowed.

May 9, 2026

The strawberries have blooms. We just have to keep them covered if it's going to frost and we'll have strawberries soon.

May 8, 2026

May 7, 2026

My dentist office is in an old house. The leaves on the trees are much farther along than at my house.

May 6, 2026

The other morning I saw something hop by the house, but it was black and it was still dark outside. Today I saw it again- an almost all black skunk. It doesn't have the white stripes on it's back, just a bit of white on it's head and a little on it's tail.

May 5, 2026

Grocery store.

May 2, 2026

We stopped at an antique store. I thought this is interesting. I like all the bins.

April 30, 2026

Pretty much every time I look out to the back yard, I see a bunny. Or two.

April 29, 2026

I've got most of my plants started.

April 28, 2026

I drove to the next town and noticed the maple trees there had full leaves. Mine are still small. It's like we're in a different climate just a few miles away.

April 27, 2026

The trilliums have been blooming. I dug them up from mom's. I transferred them there from the woods when I was a kid. Now some are here for me to enjoy.
