March 2, 2026

Two of the bottles I got yesterday. The syrup is still a nice golden color.

March 1, 2026

Boiling sap makes a lot of dirty dishes.

February 28, 2026

Today seems to have been the prime day for sap production. We got quite a lot and filled the 4 new 7 gallon containers we bought, and then some.

February 27, 2026

My son and husband have been 3D printing a robot that will be about 36" tall. It has a lot of pieces.

February 26, 2026

Today we got about as much sap as yesterday. We're running out of stuff to store it into. We also got a tractor out, with brand new chains for the back tires.

February 25, 2026

We gathered sap today. We got about 15 gallons of sap, and there will be more for the weekend boiling.

February 24, 2026

We went shopping. I like to park far from other people.

February 23, 2026

We got more snow. I saw this car slowly go sideways, then slowly slide into the little hill across the road. They got turned back around after a few minutes and went on their way. Nobody else seemed to have problems with the road, though it was another two hours before the first plow truck went by.

February 22, 2026

My husband got an anvil.

Saturday, February 21, 2026

February 21, 2026

I boiled sap today. I got one of these and a little bit more. I'm still not sure why boiling sap leaves behind this discoloration on my pans, but it clears up after a few uses cooking other things.

February 20, 2026

I'm starting to plan out my plants for this year. I keep most seeds in these containers.

February 19, 2026

My son's Lego lighthouse, with a lighting kit.

Wednesday, February 18, 2026

February 18, 2026

We gathered sap today. The snow is nearly gone. We're still not getting much sap yet.

February 17, 2026

My husband got me some roses for Valentine's day.

Tuesday, February 17, 2026

February 16, 2026

We collected sap today. Some trees had no sap, most had a little, one had a little more than a gallon.

February 14, 2026

We tapped maple trees today. I think we put out 25 taps. It's a good day for it- some were dripping as the taps were put in. The first ones we tapped had maybe a quarter cup by the time we finished about 45 minutes later.

February 13, 2026

We ran to the grocery store this evening and they had lots of bouquets for sale for Valentine's Day. These ones were $19.99.

One of our bowls shattered after it was put away in the cabinet.

February 9, 2026

I had a dental checkup today. The office is in an old house with neat architecture, including old doors and high ceilings.

February 8, 2026

We moved the walnut table dad made into the family room.

February 7, 2026

My son got a new desk.

February 6, 2026

I don't notice how big crows are than other birds until they come close.

February 4, 2026

I had my annual check up today. They've got a new gown which is sturdier than the previous paper ones. This one has a belt which doesn't break when you touch it.

February 3, 2026

I found this in my dad's stuff. Maybe this summer we can try testing it's accuracy.

Monday, February 2, 2026

February 2, 2026

Today I saw birds at the feeder again. I haven't seen them since we got the big snow and it got cold.

February 1, 2026

Last week I got this kitchen cabinet cleaned. Hopefully the labels will keep it somewhat organized for longer.

Saturday, January 31, 2026

January 31, 2026

I finished a new bag today. This one wraps around my waist.

Friday, January 30, 2026

January 30, 2026

It got down to -22 this morning. The temperature shot up though when the sun rose. We made it up to 16, briefly, this afternoon.

Wednesday, January 28, 2026

January 28, 2026

It was -17° at 7:00 this morning, which is about as cold as it ever gets here. Around 8:15 we saw emergency vehicles going by. I looked to the north and saw a big cloud of smoke. A barn about a mile up the road caught fire. There were at least 6 different fire departments which helped put it out. We saw a big truck that said 'tanker' go by 3 times. It was -9° when the fire happened. I don't know how that effects firefighting, but I stopped seeing smoke by 9:00.

January 27, 2026

I had to go to town today. The city had a front end loader out loading up trucks with snow to dump who knows where. Some years ago the city had a little plow to plow all the sidewalks, but I guess not anymore. Not all sidewalks were cleared so it was rough walking in front of some buildings.

January 26, 2026

My younger son planned ahead and took today off work. My older son went in late, and school was cancelled for my daughter. I think we ended up with 9-10 inches from the storm.

January 25, 2026

We're getting snow from a big storm. It started last night, and this is what it looked like this morning. Then it snowed at a good rate all day.

January 24, 2026

I'm working on a small purse.

Tuesday, January 20, 2026

January 20, 2026

I got my husband some little signs and such for his model railroad. We think the Dr. Pepper sign is perfect on this building.

January 19, 2026

Our house is 250 feet from the road, and there were a few times we couldn't see the phone pole at the end of the driveway this morning.

Sunday, January 18, 2026

January 18, 2026

I cleaned out and organized three kitchen drawers today.

January 17, 2026

We went to an aquatic pet store.  While we were checking out the cashier said he just got a winter weather alert for the next 30 minutes. We went outside and it was snowing little hail balls, it was like we were being pelted with tiny styrofoam balls. We ended up driving in it the whole way home.

January 16, 2026

There was a giant 'S' in the sky this morning.

Thursday, January 15, 2026

January 15, 2026

More snow.

January 14, 2026

I got a new container for the Christmas bulbs. This one is clear so you can see the layers.
