My daughter is taking Italian and is supposed to bring in a picture of her with something Italian.  I guess spaghetti sauce works so I took her picture with some of the sauce we made this year.  I made her wear her new shirt which says "I eat local because I can"- with pictures of canning jars.

My daughter found a monarch cocoon (it's the black thing in the center of the photo).  If you look close you can see some of the black veins on the wings.

I've been making masks.  I learned how to make the elastic an adjustable size using beads, which has been great since everyone seems to need a different length.

My daughter tested negative for Covid, but now the rest of us have whatever bug she had.  Except my husband, so he's the only one getting anything done this weekend.  He moved a dirt pile and scraped more for our patio.

13 school days.  That is all it took for my daughter to get sick.  Conveniently, on Monday they sent an email saying when to keep them home.  It included these two attachments- a flow chart and an emoji chart.  Following the email instructions, any illness will end up keeping them out of school for about a week- even if it's not covid.  It's crazy that some schools are not mandating masks- and that many parents are against masks.  Fortunately, after a week, our school started mandating masks, for now.
