June 30, 2019

We got the yard mowed.  My daughter seems to be learning fast.

June 29, 2019

There was a lightning bug on my kitchen window this morning.

June 28, 2019

We had a strong wind and rain storm blow through.  For the last year or two, this sugar maple was looking paler green than the others, and today it fell over.  The roots seem as if they were rotting, and I could squeeze water out of them like a sponge.  We'll look for a replacement tree this fall.

June 26, 2019

My son started his first job today.  He is working in the fabrication area of a plastics company, welding plastic parts together.

June 25, 2019

We went swimming again.

June 24, 2019

I read that these curly Q flowers on my garlic are called scapes, and that I should cut them off to get better garlic bulbs.  It said to grill them like asparagus, so I tried that.  They have a garlic flavor and are tasty that way.

June 23, 2019

It was finally warm enough to get into the pool.

June 22, 2019

I taught my daughter to mow today.  She only missed a few spots.

June 21, 2019

We usually plant rye in the garden in the fall.  Somehow, we ended up with wheat seed instead.  We left some of it to grow.

June 19, 2019

Our potatoes are growing, except for that low spot at the end with puddles.

June 18, 2019

Our blueberry plants have a lot of berries this year.

June 17, 2019

Compared to the stray, our indoor cats seem big and fluffy.

June 16, 2019

It's still raining.  I don't think our backyard here has kept puddles for this long before.  We seem to get 3 inches every 5 days.  Our seeds might rot in the ground rather than grow.  I've seen two hayfields get made around here, where usually most have been cut by now.

June 15, 2019

The stray cat is friendly and really enjoys petting.

June 14, 2019

As of two weeks ago, we seem to have accumulated a stray cat.  She seems young, was very skinny, and had lost a lot of hair on her back- probably from fleas.  I put flea stuff on her a week ago and her hair already looks better.  She also, quite suddenly, appears pregnant (what female stray cat isn't?).

June 10, 2019

Over the weekend we went to a garage sale that had lots of tools.  We picked up a bunch, along with a decent toolbox.  Some of it was machinist tools, which I might need for a class next semester.

June 9, 2019

It finally dried up enough we were able to plant our potatoes.  The places we usually get seed from had sold out, so we used leftover potatoes from last year.

June 8, 2019

We had a turtle in our driveway.  It was just passing through to who knows where.

June 7, 2019

My son wanted to drive to the Amish store, so we went.  He got the experience of driving around buggies during the trip.

June 6, 2019

The baby robins on our deck are getting a bit overcrowded in their nest.

June 5, 2019

Our back garden hasn't dried up yet, and the 3+ inches of rain we got today isn't helping.

June 4, 2019

Took my daughter to the optometrist.  Her prescription was just a fraction worse than previous, so hopefully that means they won't get much worse.  I think I was her age when my prescription stopped changing.

June 2, 2019

I took my son out for driving lessons.  He's supposed to get 50 hours in before he can get his license.  We're working our way up from country back roads to interstate.

June 1, 2019

We were at a graduation party today.  We played yard yahtzee with oversized blocks for dice.
