We had a long, steady, heavy rain this morning. It was enough to flood our low spots, making a steam. It's got a fairly decent current and will go away after it stops raining. Our new garden is near the stream and got flooded. Not enough to do anything much besides uncover all the little rocks. But I saw the sweet potato hill had ended up making a dam and had waterfalls eroding dirt between the plants, so I got a shovel to cut out a spot for the water to flow. My husband came out and got carried away, digging a trench along the side of the garden. I think he wiped out my second attempt to get some spaghetti squash growing while he was at it. We're thinking next year it will be okay if we just make the rows going the long way so the stream just goes between the plants.

Our latest dirt project- the new pool location. We're moving it to be just off the deck. Eventually we could extend the deck out to it.

This is what a computer server can look like. It's a place separate from your computer where you can store files. We could host internet stuff now if we wanted.

My younger son has always been sound-sensitive and didn't like loud noises like thunderstorms. Thus, I was shocked to come outside and see him standing in the middle of the yard watching a storm, despite all the thunder (and lightning) going on.

We've had rain every day for a while. It's been rare lately to be able to see the open sky. This evening I could see the moon beyond the few large clouds left from today's storms.

A mower blade fell off our newer garden tractor. From what I understood and remembered of the men-talk, this thing is what broke, it's some kind of spindle (or maybe just one part of it is a spindle), and there was complaints about something being inlaid and it was a bad design. It broke though because of a piece of string winding around it. We ordered a replacement part online, so hopefully the other tractor doesn't break this week.

The purple martin babies sat on my gutter for a while, opening up whenever the parents flew past. They could feed a baby really fast, without landing.

There are a few baby purple martins in the area. They hung out on our barn for a little bit this evening while the adults flew around chirping.

These are some of the fossils we found. I liked the fossils that had a shell on both sides. They're like a flattened ball when both shell halves are still connected.

On the way home we stopped at a large Bass Pro Shop store. I don't know how high the ceiling was, but it looked far away. We liked the waterfall and pond.

This is Fossil Park in Sylvania, Ohio. It's a small area that was once quarried for stone. They found lots of fossils in the area. Now, they quarry nearby, but bring big scoops of clay here for people to look through for fossils. We got lucky and they had just brought in new dirt so we were able to find quite a few. Most of what we found were shells, but we did find some coral and pieces of trilobites.

We went on a short weekend camping trip near Toledo this weekend. Here is my daughter looking over the types of fossils we might find at a fossil park.

A couple years ago, a raspberry suddenly started growing along our fence. We let it grow, and got a handful of raspberries last year. Over the summer it grew quite a bit, and we're going to have a lot more raspberries this year.
