When the communities went to buy road salt for this winter, they say the price shot up significantly. I guess that's why they aren't salting our road very often (maybe once per storm, every week or so). This is the most I've seen of the asphalt for a while. Yesterday the road had a nice thick layer of snow/ice, complete with a few chuckholes. Then this morning they put something on the road. It was dark like cinders, but the snow melted... in a few places. It caused a horribly bumpy road due to the thousands of potholes that formed in the packed snow layer. I'm sure a railroad track would have been a smoother ride. I was glad when it started snowing this evening, filling in the holes somewhat.
