We went out to start working on the garden. They got 3 rows marked before a thunderstorm rolled up on us.

My oldest attends a career center that pulls in kids from several schools from around the county. They remain a member of their 'home school' while attending the career center. Today was the graduation ceremony for his home school. Today I had a similar nervous feeling as what I had his first day of kindergarten. It's strange sometimes how everything seems to come full circle.

The hall is in desperate need of a paint job. First I have to patch and sand all the dents and holes. Between three kids growing up and a husband who likes to rearrange furniture the hallway has taken a beating- I could hardly believe the amount of patching I needed to make. There was one section with dozens of little dents that were the same size and shape and I kept wondering what toy was used to make those.

My daughter's grade had their poetry cafe today. The kids recited the poems outside for a group of their parents and grandparents. She and two other girls chose a poem called The Sleepover by Betsy Franco, about not sleeping at a sleepover. They dressed in pajamas, brought sleeping bags and lots of props. My daughter also made this sign.

My husband went to the career center annual auction today. Among other things, he got 7 of these concrete benches. We're putting 5 around the fire pit, and two by the barn. They're surprisingly comfortable to sit on despite being concrete.

I got the teapot quilt done for my mother-in-law. I wanted to make a wall hanging, but it ended up around lap quilt size. Three or four teapots would have made a better size. But, it's a good size for a wall hanging quilt rack, so I'm making my husband make one for his mom for Mother's Day.

My microwave broke. The new one came in today so the old one had to come down. It was surprising how much I missed having a microwave. My primary use for it seems to be heating leftovers. Warming leftovers on the stove just creates another dirty pan to wash.

My oldest got this dogwood tree as a sapling in preschool (2003). A year or two after we planted it, the dog decided to spend the winter chewing it and trimmed it down. It was a somewhat sad looking bushy tree for a few years, then started having small, pathetic flowers. This year, however, the blooms on it look good. It's finally a nice tree, just in time for my son's high school graduation.
