September 30, 2014

A praying mantis crawled on my office screen yesterday.  It came back today.  When I moved around, it turned it's head toward me.  My son didn't like that though, he said it's creepy.  I thought it was neat!

September 29, 2014

Fall has started already.  We had a very light, patchy frost last week, and that seemed to have really triggered everything to start turning.  A few trees are really bright like this one back in our woods.  Most are still green, although they're looking pale compared to summer.

September 28, 2014

We dug potatoes today.  There wasn't as much as last year, but still more than enough for us.  My oldest son has no interest in driving the tractor, but my younger son and oldest nephew do.  They ended up taking turns for a while driving and pushing the plow.  Their rows weren't as straight as Grandpa's though!

September 25, 2014

It gets dark earlier than quitting time, so my son has become the light setter-upper.

September 24, 2014

My husband didn't like heights and couldn't go up high, until this year.  Now he says, for some reason, it doesn't bother him anymore.  After all these years, it's really strange to see him up on a tall ladder.

September 23, 2014

My son has been helping.  Today he decided the doors needed handles and screwed on some blocks of wood.

September 22, 2014

They had to drill holes in the siding for the screws.

September 21, 2014

They got one side of the barn sided, despite all the wind we had today.  My son helped by screwing in some of the screws.

September 20, 2014

I took the kids to the parade today.  It was a really nice morning for it, good temperature and no rain.

September 19, 2014

We picked our pumpkins today.  The biggest one is 45 pounds.  We'll have some nice, big jack-o-lanterns this year.  And lots of pumpkin to eat.

September 18, 2014

The mower still needs some work.  Some part or another wasn't right, so they'll have to do more work on it.

September 17, 2014

More work on the barn.  They're working on the little fiddly stuff before putting up whole sheets of siding.

September 16, 2014

Our old cub's mower wasn't working, so my son took it apart.  He found a busted pulley and shaft.  I guess that's what was making it rattle so bad!

September 15, 2014

Mom and dad came and helped me juice tomatoes.  We had six buckets of tomatoes, and the juice filled all three of my stock pots, 4 plastic containers and two sap buckets.  I got 33 quarts of fairly thick sauce from all of that.

September 14, 2014

He got more soffit up on the barn.

Saturday, September 13, 2014

September 13, 2014

They worked on soffit and siding today.

September 12, 2014

My dad and husband worked on the barn today.

September 11, 2014

I've started canning spaghetti sauce this week.  I got 12 cans in the first batch.

September 10, 2014

We finished up the sweet corn today.

September 9, 2014

There was a flock of birds in the yard today.  We had to look these up- they're European Starlings.

September 8, 2014

My husband is getting the soffit nailed up.

September 7, 2014

They got the scaffolding set up today.

September 6, 2014

The pears are almost ripe.

September 5, 2014

My daughter is pretty good at pulling the heartstrings already!

September 4, 2014

We made our annual trip to Akron today.  There's a nice view from this parking deck.

September 3, 2014

It's a good thing the bus brakes are squeaky so we can hear the bus coming.  Some mornings the fog is really thick.

September 2, 2014

We used to be able to see the bus much better on the next road over, but the trees keep growing and block our view.  We can still see it through one little gap for now.

September 1, 2014

My daughter and her "How to Train Your Dragon" birthday cake my mother-in-law made.

August 31, 201

Got a picture of the fog rolling in.

August 30, 2014

After months of saving, my nephew finally had enough money to buy parts to make a computer.  My husband put it all together.  It should be a long time before he needs a new one.
