August 28, 2014

This is the upper story of the barn, facing west.  Some day soon, two windows will be on that wall.

August 27, 2014

My daughter watching for the bus on her first day of school.  My younger son also started back today.

August 26, 2014

My oldest started school today.  He's going to the nearby vocational school, for engineering.  If he took the bus, he'd be on it for an hour or more, but it only takes 2 minutes to drive there.  So we'll be driving him there until he gets a proper license (and we have an extra vehicle).

August 25. 2014

Some of the school supplies we got, including a $90 (on sale) calculator.

August 24, 2014

We had my son's birthday party today.  We were out in the barn.  He had a good day!

August 23, 2014

I bought my daughter some jeans with sequins on them.  This is my dryer after washing them.  The glue they use must not be too good.  There's still quite a few left on the jeans, so there will be more washings full of mini heart sequins.

August 22, 2014

We made a trip to the fair.  It was muddy, enough that they cancelled the tractor pulls.  We saw lots of stuff though, including the big pumpkins.

August 21, 2014

We dug some potatoes today.

August 20, 2014

This is just a small part of my daughter's stuffed animal collection... and she keeps getting more!

August 19, 2014

My daughter is now into dragons and Pokemon.

August 18, 2014

How my kids spent a good bit of summer vacation- on the computers.

August 17, 2014

We got anxious to see how the siding will look and put one piece up.  There is other stuff that needs to go up first, but it is nice to get a glimpse of what it's going to look like.

August 16, 2014

The barn has one window now.  The other two will have to wait for scaffolding.

August 15, 2014

Our garage stash of pop.

August 14, 2014

We have a few tomatoes ready!

August 13, 2014

One of our bradford pears lost a large limb today.  When I bought them, I thought they had pears.  Then I found out they're decorative trees and the pears are teeny tiny nubs.  I also read later that they're prone to losing branches.  So I guess they're not going to last much longer.  Especially this one, that branch was a quarter to third of the tree, it's going to look bad now.

August 12, 2014

We found a broken branch on the pear tree, so we set up some supports and tied up quite a few branches.  Those little pears are very heavy when there's dozens on each branch.

August 10, 2014

We got the first coat of primer/sealer on the barn.

August 9, 2014

We dug out the dirt around the block on the barn so we can paint them.

August 8, 2014

My son got his temporary driving permit today.

August 7, 2014

The pears are getting larger, enough to break a limb.  We tied some limbs up to help out.

August 5, 2014

I got some of our archers painted.

August 2, 2014

Our barn siding was delivered today.  I was expecting a larger pile, but this is all of it.

August 1, 2014

I planted some mini pumpkins, which seem to be producing lots of little pumpkins.
