May 26, 2014

We got the potatoes planted today, along with some Indian corn and pumpkins.

May 25, 2014

My husband got the potato patch disced.

May 24, 2014

My husband working on the barn.  This is the smaller, side door.

May 23, 2014

There's been killdeer hanging out in our driveway lately.  Today I found their nest.  There's only one egg so far.  It's along the edge of the driveway, so I put out a few marker flags so hopefully nobody runs over the nest.

She was in a school music show today.  They sang songs about America.

May 20, 2014

There are 3 4-leaf clovers here, and one 5-leaf clover.

May 19, 2014

We worked on mulch, the kids got to unload the dirt from the wagon.

May 18, 2014

It was finally a nice day.  My husband dug up the broken drain tiles, and ran a new line all the way to the ditch.  We're hoping the ditch will drain a little better now instead of overflowing into our yard as much.

May 17, 2014

The school had their art show today.  My daughter had a picture in it, a self portrait, it appears.

May 16, 2014

My mom wants a new loveseat.  We went to a furniture store and checked out their discounted stuff.  I had no intention of buying anything until I sat in this one.  It was so comfy.  I ended up buying it, since we do need a new couch, and it was discounted quite a bit.

May 15, 2014

We had more storms today.

May 14, 2014

We've been having thunderstorms this week.  They haven't been too awful where I'm at, but my father-in-law, who lives on a hill, said he ended up with sand, bricks, and rather large landscaping rocks in his yard after having a lot of rain Monday.  He figures they came from somewhere up the hill.  A road culvert down from him was washed out too.  We're getting more storms today, this was the first one to roll through.

May 13, 2014

Grape leaves are pretty when they first appear, with a little bit of resemblance to a flower.

May 12, 2014

My apple trees have a lot of blooms this year.  If they aren't killed by frost, we should have a nice crop of apples.

May 11, 2014

The kids got me a windchime for mother's day.  It has solar panels on it and the glass lights up at night in different colors.  My daughter brought home a marigold from school in a pot she painted.

May 10, 2014

It finally cleared up and dried up enough to work outside.  My husband pulled out a tree that wasn't growing that great (and in what turned out to be a bad place).  My son mowed.  Both were mowing until the older garden tractor started smoking due to a bad pulley.  The neighbor across the street was using his terrifyingly large lawn roller.

May 9, 2014

We got 15 tons of gravel on the driveway today.

Thursday, May 8, 2014

May 8, 2014

We started work on weeding out the flower beds.

May 7, 2014

We picked up some windows for the barn.  The place was across the street from these grain silos.  There's quite a few there.

Daffodil

May 5, 2014

It rained to the northeast of us most of the day.  Then sometimes it would rain here, too, but not as much as other places.

May 4, 2014

Everyone was out mowing today.  It was thick enough in places to need swept up.

May 3, 2014

My husband trying to fill in some potholes in our driveway.

May 1, 2014

My sons like to use the antique grass cutters at my parents.  For a little bit, anyway.
