January 31, 2013

When I told the kids to get their coats on, the weather didn't look too bad.  By the time they were bundled up we nearly had a blizzard.  I drove them out to the end of the driveway, and we couldn't tell if the headlights coming down the road were a car or a big yellow bus.  By the time I got back to the house, their footprints in the sidewalk had disappeared.

January 30, 2013

We had a hard rain roll through briefly.

January 29, 2013

I got the flannel quilt sewed together.  It still needs clipped, so for now it has lots of strings.

January 28, 2013

I got most of the holiday decorations sorted and in boxes while I was putting away the Christmas stuff.

January 27, 2013

My husband made an apple pie today.  It was pretty good, though we decided it needs more apples (next time!).

January 25, 2013

There was a small snow storm that passed through today, right around the time I took one of the kids to the doctor.  But half an hour after we got there, the roads had cleared quite a lot to this.  They were snow and slush covered on our way there.

January 24, 2013

We got one of those little indoor pine trees just before Christmas.  The sun was shing through a window on it today.

January 23, 2013

I'm back to working on the flannel quilt for our bed.

January 22, 2013

This is a new indoor/outdoor thermometer/clock we got at Christmas.  It was cold today, only made it to 9 degrees.

January 21, 2013

A squirrel at my parent's house.

January 20, 2013

This is a kit my daughter got to make swirled beads.

January 19, 2013

We were a little bit behind, but finally got the Christmas decorations put away.  I had found some Santa hats on clearance, and made the kids wear them for a little bit while they put bulbs away.

January 18, 2013

I finally found a place to hang up a bird feeder.  There's another deck post for another feeder too.

January 17, 2013

I have a tablet that I take with me when I have to wait on the kids, like dentist appointments.  I have a magazine downloaded on it to read.  But I recently put an app on there for drawing and showed it to my daughter.  She spent the rest of the afternoon making pictures.

January 16, 2013

My daughter's new hat.

January 15, 2013

When the light shines through a glass bowl I have, the designs in it make an interesting shadow.

January 14, 2013

The dog playing with a ball.  It's tied to the tree, so that makes it that much more interesting.

January 13, 2013

The daffodils are already poking through the dirt.

January 12, 2013

It was nice out today, and the snow had melted.  We plugged the Christmas inflateables in so they could dry, then my husband brought them all inside to be boxed up.

January 11, 2013

We played a new game with Legos.  But first, they had to be sorted out.

January 10, 2013

I got a phone call today.  It was school.  She fell down during recess, but apparently her head broke the fall.  It doesn't look too bad, just a small bump on the head and a scrape on the nose.

January 9, 2013

Melting snow.

January 7, 2012

I got her the sweat pants for Christmas, so she'd have something kind of fancy to wear to ballet class during the winter.  (As a parent, I also liked that it didn't have the words across her rear end.)

January 6, 2012

One of our small sacks of potatoes.

January 5, 2012

We went sled riding today.

January 4, 2013

My daughter is like me and doesn't fall asleep right away when she goes to bed.  So she'll lay there and read a book.  In the dark.  I'm not sure how she can see it.

January 3, 2013

It was 5 degrees outside this morning.  My husband took the kids to the end of the driveway in the van to wait for the bus so they wouldn't get too cold.

January 2, 2013

The snow that gets pushed off the road can get quite ugly.  The wind blows the snow into drifts here at the end of the driveway.  When I turned around to look the other direction, the snow along the road is half this height.

January 1, 2013

We had the extended family get-together today.  Here are some of the youngest opening their presents.
