December 31, 2013

The kids staying up for New Year's.

December 30, 2013

I got my husband a game trail camera.  We put it up in the woods in the back.

December 29, 2013

One of the cabinets we bought.  It's pretty nice for $15.

December 28, 2013

He moved some of the firewood closer to our basement door while the weather was decent today.

December 27, 2013

We went to an industrial supply center and bought some big filing cabinets for cheap.  I even got two metal shelves and a cabinet, as well.  They're not nice, but good enough for the basement/garage/barn storage.

December 26, 2013

My daughter got a suction-cup bow.

December 23, 2013

At Thanksgiving, my oldest saw an ad with half pound Reese cups, but they were $10 for a pair.  My sister-in-law made this one for him.  I ended up slicing it like a pie- much better and more fun than the expensive store ones!

December 22, 2013

I finally finished my placemat.

December 21, 2013

Dad got out his little steam tractor for the kids.

December 20, 2013

This little quilting project I started is taking a lot longer than I thought it would.  I don't have much experience with applique, so I'm figuring it out as I go.

December 19, 2013

My daughter made two baskets this game.

December 18, 2013

My tree out front.  It really lights up the yard, especially with the snow.

December 17, 2013

An angel ornament I got this year.

December 16, 2013

The parachute I made for my Christmas card.  It has gold snowflakes on the material, though you can't see that on the card.  It's the thought that counts, I guess.

December 15, 2013

Clearing off the snow.

December 14, 2013

I made a pile of cookies today.

December 13, 2013

I noticed today that some of the dust from the bare ground around the barn had blown around and covered some of the snow.  We're supposed to get a bunch of snow tomorrow, though, so it won't look like that for long.

December 12, 2013

My daughter drew her favorite My Little Pony.

December 11, 2013

On a snowy afternoon, we ran around the front yard trying to make the parachute fluff out for my Christmas card picture.

December 10, 2013

My crock pot lid broke.  It was from my wedding, 18 years ago.  Nice time for it to go- crock pots were on sale!  The new one is a little bigger, and a shiny red.

December 9, 2013

They left a mess.

December 8, 2013

The kids started to get the tree set up today.

Saturday, December 7, 2013

December 7, 2013

The picture I used for the front of my Christmas cards this year (with an airplane and better sky photoshopped in).

December 6, 2013

We bought the kids another Lego Advent calender this year.

December 5, 2013

Our tree seems to be growing quite a bit.  It is much taller than my 8 foot ladder this year.  We're going to have to buy more lights for next year.

December 4, 2013

My daughter's weather project- a weathervane.

December 3, 2013

Santa is flat.  He has a hole in his hat.

December 2, 2013

We had to decorate a tree for my daughter's class today.  My scrapbooking supplies came in handy, as well as some scrap furry material.

December 1, 2013

We started work on the decorations today.

We played Carrom today, for the first time in years.

It was high time for haircuts for all the males in the house.

November 26, 2013

First floor of the barn.  And the beginning of a snowstorm.

November 25, 2013

Lego building- there's usually pieces leftover.

November 24, 2013

My son and his Minecraft birthday cake.

November 23, 2013

My husband moved a few things into the barn, like the wagon and his watering barrel on wheels.

November 22, 2013

For spelling tests, my daughter's second grade teacher has a big list.  She goes through the list with each kid, and the first 15 they get wrong are their own individualized spelling list for the next week.  If they miss a word, it stays on their list until they get it right.  It turns out, my daughter is a good speller, and is pretty far down the master list already.  This was her list for this week.  I had to stop and think for a moment on some of those words myself!

November 21, 2013

My daughter is in basketball this year.  Today was her first game.  The first play of the game she shot and make a basket!  She didn't attempt any more baskets the rest of the game, so I guess she has a 100% shot record for now.  She did really well though, guarding and passing.  It will be fun watching her and the other girls getting better each week.

November 20, 2013

They came and finished framing and roofing this morning.  Time to make the final decision on what shades of red/white we want for the siding and trim.

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

November 19, 2013

Today he got his two favorite things in one: Lego and Minecraft.

Monday, November 18, 2013

November 18, 2013

A crane came today and they got the trusses set up.  The wind got worse throughout the day, so it's good they started early.

November 17, 2013

A glass pumpkin I bought at an arts/craft show.

We got snow last night, and had snowfall all day.
