Mowing the road berm. That's quite an exhaust he's got on that tractor. It's also interesting that they're not using the PTO off the back of the tractor, but some sort of (hydraulic?) system attached to the front. We figure there's a reason... just don't know what it is!
The grass is growing faster than we have dry days to mow it. You can see all the dandelions going to seed, and that's at the neighbor who mows often and has great landscaping.

A small airplane crash landed yesterday evening about 2 miles from here. It was very close to the playground we ride our bikes to. Mom and dad were out riding and saw the helicopters and watched some of the happenings. There were 3 people inside, and as of this morning's news they were all alive, although hospitalized. I took the kids up this evening to see the wreckage. It was being loaded up onto trailers pulled by pickups when we were there.

We rode our bikes to school yesterday and today. The weather was finally good enough for it! It ended up being 3.6 miles to school, 3 of which was on the bike trail. Only took about 25 minutes. If we go in the truck, it's 5.5 miles, takes about 12 minutes, and at the current prices, $2 in gas. Speaking of which, I filled the truck up with gas today and it came to $98.

I went on a field trip to the zoo with the seventh graders. Six buses, 200+ kids. I only had to watch over 5. Turns out, 4 of them (my son was the only exception) had cell phones. Ones that could take pictures even! Mine just... is a phone. In science class they had each chosen an animal to study and were supposed to get a picture of it while at the zoo. I heard that and thought, wow, good thing I brought my camera! We get to the zoo and all of them whip out their phones and start snapping away. The whole time, really, was constant picture taking. Their time in school should be quite well documented.
